Methodology & Scoring of our IQ Test

Methodology

WorldIQTest is designed to be culture-fair and unbiased, which is why we exclude verbal and language-based questions. Instead, the test focuses on spatial, abstract, logical, and numerical reasoning, covering the main areas of cognitive ability.

The test follows a difficulty curve: it starts with the easiest questions and gradually increases in complexity, ensuring that all participants are measured across a full range of skills.

Each question is analyzed using group testing. Test groups help us measure the average accuracy rate and average solving time for every question. From this data, we establish a baseline difficulty value. This allows us to assign proper weight to each item and make the scoring fair for everyone.

The result is a weighted performance system: your IQ score depends not just on how many questions you solve correctly, but also on the difficulty level of those questions and the time you spend solving them.

Scoring Model

socoring model - normal distribution

We use a Norm-Referenced Adaptive Scaling method.

  • Your raw performance (accuracy + difficulty + solving time) is compared to group averages.
  • Results are normalized along the bell curve, with an average of 100 and a standard deviation of 15.
  • This ensures fairness and comparability with established psychometric standards.
  • There is no strict time limit, but solving time is included as part of your performance weight. Faster, accurate responses improve your score; slower solving reduces it.
